At short distance away from our house you can reach the most beautiful places of the Sibillini National Park. Among these, here are the most important and popular :
Monte Sibilla, with its 2,173 meters above see level and its majestic crown on the highest point provides the experience of a spectacular hike. The trail, fully marked, from Rifugio Sibilla (accessible by car 6 Km from our house), climbs up to Monte Zampa, and then continues on the ridge up to the crown.
Gorge of Infernaccio. The beginning of the trail is 2 km away from our house and is accessible by car on a gravelled road, passing the small village of Rubbiano. You walk untill the river Tenna, with its Pisciarelle, picturesque cascades from the rock above. The path starts to climb into the woods and along the stretch of the river, passing into the spectacular gorge and then reaching the hermitage of San Leonardo with a Church rebuilt by Father Pietro Lavini. Or you can reach the headwaters of Tenna, called Capotenna or the Rio waterfall also called “hidden waterfall”.
The Lake of Pilato, at 1,941 m. above see level, on Mount Vettore, is a small glacial lake, which hosts a particular endemism, The Chirocefalo Marchesonii, a small red crustacean. The lake is accessible from the small village of Foce (9 km from our house) to a path of about 900 m . of altitude. The route is particularly interesting for its plant and wild life.
The Sibillini Great Ring, is a marked hiking trail that covers the entire Sibillini National Park. It is divided into 9 stages and to be runned across walking or mountain biking in 8 or 9 days. Our farm is located near the stage of Rubbiano.
